The Buffalo Sabres have their first win of the season. The win comes on the team's third game in four nights, and over a well-rested Islanders team.
It didn't come without a cost – a tough injury in the first period. Off Tyler Myers' point shot, Zemgus Girgensons - who's shown so much potential - took the puck up high. He did not return to the game.
Tyler Ennis, Thomas Vanek, and Marcus Foligno scored for the Sabres. Foligno's game-tying goal happened as the 3rd was winding down.
Vanek and then Ennis converted in OT for the Sabres, and Ryan Miller stopped John Tavares to seal it.
The Sabres get a day to rest and host the Canucks Thursday night.
