Two young men in Livingston County are in jail in connection with a 15-year-old girl who was found unconscious and intoxicated in a Livonia park earlier in the week.

Authorities say it's the third time this year in Livingston County adults helped supply the alcohol.

Sheriff John York increased his department's efforts as the county approaches the prom and summer seasons.

"To be honest with you, it's very frustrating for us to deal with but it's also encouraging for us to know people are reporting this," York said.

York credits the community with holding underage drinking offenders and those who serve to minors accountable.

"We sent a clear message, we're not going to tolerate people supplying alcohol and drugs to the youth in this community," York said.

At least seven Livingston County residents, since March, face criminal charges in connection with underage drinking gone out of control.

One incident left Arman Partamian, 19, dead after an off-campus party thrown by SUNY Geneseo students in March.

York believes outspoken residents make a difference in combating the problem.

"We ask anybody that knows that there's drugs or alcohol being provided to kids in endangering environments to our youth to make that report, we'll react accordingly," York said.

The sheriff's department created an online tip site to make reporting easier. Authorities say community members are often the extra sets of eyes and ears.

But York made the message clear to offenders.

"If you're going to provide youth with alcohol in this county, you're going to be arrested. That goes for the parents, that goes for the kids, that goes for the people in the community who have the ability to purchase these alcoholic beverages or find these beverages somewhere else," York said.

Sheriff York says endangering the welfare of a child results in a minimum of one year in county prison.
