Former Undersheriff Sentenced in Defrauding Scheme
A man charged in an assessment and bribery scandal was sentenced Wednesday.
Richard Ackerman is one of five people charged after a federal investigation revealed a scheme to defraud Kodak, the town of Greece, and other companies out of millions of dollars.
Ackerman was sentenced in federal court to three years probation and a $5,000 fine. He also has to pay nearly $56,850 in restitution and a $100 special assessment fee.
Ackerman is a former Yates County undersheriff.
He previously pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy and has admitted to receiving payments for appraisal contracts from Charles Schwab, the former Greece official also charged in the scheme.
