North Clinton Avenue Plaza Owner Hopes to Re-Open Soon

By: Cristina Domingues

The man who owns the North Clinton Avenue plaza that caught fire last week hopes to have his business there up and running again in a week.

Richard Trovato said gas, electric and water should be back in the Auto Finishers store over the next few days.

He hopes that next week, the store will be open again and employees can get back to work. They were temporarily moved to another store in Gates.

Trovato said they hope some of the others spaces in the plaza can be saved.

"There are still three buildings there on the end that we're waiting for the city to come down to send their engineers in to see if it's structurally sound. If it's possible to save, we're trying to save that also, but the center section is all going to have to be demolished," Trovato said.

Trovato added that one fire wall did help, but when the plaza was built they were not required to be up all the way to the roof. Trovato said that is why the fire spread from store to store.
