Officer Jeff Lafave Recounts Mayhem After Shootings
When the call came for an officer down late Tuesday night, other officers quickly sped to the scene.

Officer Jeff Lafave was one of the first to arrive.

Lafave said he was aware that shots had been fired and there was an officer down, but did not know that a second police officer had been shot.

Lafave said when he entered the building, Officer Martini, who was shot three times, was coming down the stairs and he assisted the wounded officer to an ambulance.

That is when Lafave said he was alerted that Officer Brochu had also been shot and was still upstairs.

"When I got upstairs he was lying on the ground and he was losing quite a bit of blood. At that point Officer Rodriguez arrived as well and we were looking for something to tie off the wound so it would stop bleeding. Officer Brochu carries a hobble around his waist and Sgt. Soto was able to release it. He handed it to me and I was able to apply a tourniquet to his upper knee," Lafave said.

Lafave said he didn't have time to assess the situation in the event the shooter was still in the building. He said his main concern was helping his fellow police officers.
