Wegmans is giving a sneak peek at what its new East Avenue store could look like.

The company unveiled its latest designs Thursday.

The new store would double the size of the existing store, originally built in 1962, from about 41,000 square feet to more than 90,000 square feet.

Also included in the plans for the new store is a Market Café.

Wegmans said the new store will be built behind the current building to allow for the current store to remain open while the new store is being built.

Wegmans gradually acquired all the businesses on the block to make room for the expansion, except for Fountain Bleu, which refuses to sell.

Demolition of those other properties is already underway.

Wegmans said if everything goes as planned, the new East Avenue store could open for business in 2012.
