Two Charged with Animal Cruelty in Wayne County
State police charged two Wayne county residents with animal cruelty after several animals were found dead or in poor condition on their property.
David Swan, 62, and Virginia Swan, 36, of Wolcott, are charged with eight counts of animal cruelty and one count of endangering the welfare of a child.
State police said they found a dead goat, a dead duck and a dead dog, which was stuffed inside an old dog food bag. They also found two horses, 14 dogs and two cats - all suffering from severe neglect.
One of the 14 dogs later died.
All the surviving animals are in the care of the Wayne County Humane Society.
The Swans were issued an appearance ticket and will return to court in Huron on January 25.
