CP Rochester Helps Haiti One Penny at a Time
Some Rochester children and adults, who know all too well what its like to need the help of others, raised nearly $700 for Haitians in need, following that deadly earthquake.
Seven teams at CP Rochester raised the money all through donations of pennies. The pennies were collected over the past few weeks and will go to the Red Cross for relief in Haiti.
Organizers decided to collect pennies so adults and children could contribute to the fund.
"Even the people who have very little, and people who have disabilities themselves, and obviously they know what it's like to be in a position where they have to have help," said Kate Proctor of CP Rochester.
CP Rochester helps those who have cerebral palsy. The winning team, which collected the most pennies, was served breakfast by other members.
