Delays at the Greater Rochester International Airport made the trip frustrating for many travelers, but not all of Thursday’s delays were weather-related.

A Delta Connection flight operated by Pinnacle Airlines was cancelled after an altercation between two female flight attendants.

Steve Mazur was bumped from two flights attempting to get to Dallas. The first was because he was on standby and the second bump was the result of the brawl.

“Apparently they got into a fistfight on the plane,” said Mazur. “The pilot decided to kick everyone off the plane.”

“They told us we had to get off the plane because stewardesses were fighting,” said Corey Minton.

Dozens of passengers on the flight were left to scramble to make other plans. Minton said one person was on his way to Cancun to get married. Another couple left crying, fearful of missing a non-refundable cruise because of the cancellation.

A spokesman for Pinnacle Airlines said the flight attendants will be kept off-duty, pending an investigation.

“The acts described are not acceptable,” said Joe Williams, a spokesman for Memphis-based Pinnacle.

Specific details of the altercation were not available. The director of Rochester’s airport, David Damelio, said law enforcement was not involved.

Williams said Delta found alternate travel plans for all those affected by the cancellation.
