Mayor Duffy Addresses Charlotte High School Violence
Kids head back to Charlotte High School Monday after a major fight outside the school on Thursday.

Rochester Mayor Bob Duffy said the incident shows that leaders need to do something different to address the issue of youth violence.

A school resource officer was punched in the back of the head during the fight that broke out after a fire alarm went off.

More than 20 Charlotte High School students were arrested.

Duffy said he is thankful there were no serious injuries.

"This is not something new. I mean we've had, you've had youth violence in many different ways for decades. But I think it points to there are a lot of things brewing, a lot of challenges we have, and I think it points to taking a step back and going at this problem far differently," Mayor Duffy said.

Duffy said the community needs to form a partnership in finding specific solutions to the problem.
