Man Arrested Tuesday for DWI Later Dies
The Monroe County Medical Examiner's Office said a Genesee County man arrested Tuesday for DWI died of a coronary-related event while in the back of a sheriff's patrol vehicle.
Genesee County sheriff's deputies said Richard Fox, 47, was arrested in the driveway of his Bergen home.
Deputies said he was placed under arrest and handcuffed shortly before 6 p.m. Tuesday. A short time later, a deputy noticed Fox was unresponsive and an ambulance was called.
Fox was transported to United Memorial Medical Center in Batavia where he was pronounced dead around 7:30 p.m.
The death was investigated by the county coroner, the Genesee County Sheriff's Office and the Monroe County Medical Examiner's Office.
