Rochester City Council approved Tuesday night plans for a new downtown bus terminal.

The Rochester Genesee Regional Transit Authority came up with an alternative after the demise of the Renaissance Square project.

The $50 million project includes 26 bays on Mortimer Street between North Clinton Avenue and St. Paul Street.

The plan, which incorporates ideas gathered from the public, was approved by an 8 to 1 vote Tuesday by city council members.
