A fitness program is getting folks up and outside before sunrise to get and stay in shape.
About a dozen people have signed on for Rochester Boot Camp. They meet three days a week at 6:00 a.m. at Cobbs Hill Park for a challenging workout that's athletic based.
Fitness trainer Shawn Pursel developed the program to give his clients an alternative workout. The program includes a variety of equipment designed to work the entire body and in a more motivating atmosphere outside the gym.
Sara King's primary goal is to lose weight. This is her second six-week boot camp session this summer. She does the boot camp circuit and runs two days a week.
"I was really looking for the motivation of being with a group and the encouragement of each other to keep going even if you can't,” said King. "I definitely know that my clothes are fitting differently and I have been able to buy some clothes in smaller sizes so that feels good."
The program also includes nutritional coaching and emails to keep participants on track. Rochester Boot Camp's next session is Aug 2.
