Wedding bells rang out this Saturday, but they weren't chiming in a church or a chapel.
Instead it was at the St. John's Home for seniors, where love is in the air.
"Our whole staff has been very cooperative about helping us get ready," said Mary Russell, a resident and bridesmaid.
From decorations to dancing, everything is perfectly planned for one special couple.
"I can't tell you how I feel," said Anne Giglia, a resident and bridesmaid. "I woke up at 7:30 this morning trying to get going."
It’s the second wedding at St. John's Home.
"It's a family affair," said Pat Calzone, a resident and groomsman.
And the residents here consider the couple just that.
"Just seeing the people come in can tell you that they think the world of the couple," said Giglia.
Susan Thomas and Greg Payne are staff members at St. John's Home. Greg is a gardener, Susan a receptionist. This is where they met and this is where they married.
"Who doesn't cry at a wedding and at a wedding like this," said Laurie Plummer, the sister of the bride. "So happy, it was awesome."
"We spend the majority of our time at work and lucky for us," said Susan, the bride. "We work in a place that embraces living and that's why it was important to share with everybody here."
"We're blessed," said Greg, the groom. "We wouldn't have it either way without the elders."
There's a special bond between this couple and residents, a bond that's now displayed through marriage. To everyone at St. John's Home, it's a bond that can never be broken.
"I think it's the best thing that happened to St. John," said Giglia.
