Opening statements are expected Tuesday afternoon in the case of a man charged with beating his ex-girlfriend and her friend in a Henrietta home last year.

Eric Johnson, 35, of Rochester, faces attempted murder and assault charges. The district attorney's office said the first witness to take the stand will be the lead investigator.

The victims are expected to testify Wednesday morning.

Police said Johnson used some type of weapon to beat Reagan Burke and her friend Daniel McGary last July. Johnson was later arrested in Akron, Ohio
