Rochester Fire Chief Up for Cincinnati Job

Rochester Fire Chief Up for Cincinnati Job
Rochester's fire chief could soon be on the move to Ohio. John Caufield told YNN that he is a finalist for the job of fire chief in Cincinnati.

Caufield became Rochester's 38th fire chief nearly three years ago. He was the department's executive deputy chief before his promotion by Mayor Duffy.

It is because of Duffy's run for lieutenant governor that Caufield said he is keeping his options open.

"Certainly me and my colleagues on the senior management recognize that we serve at the mayor's pleasure. But then having to confront that is a different thing altogether. I didn't really ever envision myself ever leaving Rochester and I still really don't, but you have to consider your options and as a I said before, i have to do what's best for me and my family," Caufield said.

The chief will have a phone interview in a few weeks.

Caufield is a Rochester native who has worked for the fire department for two decades.
