Rochester firefighters are investigating a suspicious house fire on the city's west side.

The fire happened at a vacant house at 61 Wright Street Wednesday evening. Investigators said firefighters out on a detail spotted the fire and called it in.

"It's just one of those things that you know, once in a career may be that will happen that you're out in a district and see a volume of smoke that large. When I left headquarters, which is on Chestnut Street, you can see the header as soon as you turn on to Main Street," said Rochester Dire Department Deputy Chief John Kearney.

No one was hurt in the fire. Witnesses told investigators that people were seen running from the location.
