Investigators: Murder Suspect's Home Set on Fire
Cameron Williams
A Monroe County grand jury indicted a Rochester man Thursday for the murder of a teenager last month.
Cameron Williams, 19, faces a second-degree murder charge along with a possession of a weapon charge. He is accused of shooting Brandon Gordon, 16, on Klueh Street after an argument.
Gordon's family members believe he was sticking up for a friend at the time. They said Gordon and Williams were also friends.
Meanwhile, Rochester firefighters said Williams' house was intentionally set on fire overnight.
Firefighters said five people are homeless and one firefighter was taken to the hospital after Williams' house on Home Place caught fire around 1:30 Thursday morning.
Firefighters said there was originally a report of a person trapped on the second floor, but after thorough searches, they determined everyone had evacuated safely.
Authorities reported no civilian injuries, but said a fire lieutenant did get injured. He was struck in the face by water from a fire hose when another firefighter lost control of it.
Fire officials said the lieutenant was taken to Strong Hospital for treatment and was released.
Fire investigators are working to determine the cause and they are asking any one with information to call 911.
The Red Cross is assisting two adults and three children with housing, clothing and food.
