Vigil Held for Man Found Dead on Iceland Park
Police said a man was found dead on Rochester's Iceland Park Wednesday morning, a small side street off Jefferson Avenue in southwest Rochester.
They said a woman walking on Iceland Park around 6:30 a.m. discovered the body, identified by police as Darryl Boswell, 50.
Police said Boswell had head trauma and injuries likely caused by a gunshot wound to the head. The Monroe County Medical Examiner's Office will determine the cause of death.
Investigators believe Boswell was dead in the street for a few hours. Family members said Boswell was a kind man who kept to himself.
"I am thinking about when he was young and up to now," said Walter Chatman, Boswell's father. "Up to now, I had to do everything I could for him. He was just my son and I loved him, I loved him very much."
Police have not made any arrests, but investigators are reviewing surveillance video from cameras stationed on Jefferson Avenue and interviewing neighbors.
Friends and family came together to mourn Boswell at a vigil Wednesday night.
Loved ones left Boswell's favorite drink topped with candles at the scene of the incident.
"We are not just here for Darryl, we are out here for everybody. We need to stop this. We're going to stop it now. We cannot tolerate all this violence stuff," said Boswell's brother, Arthur Owens.
Rochester Police Chief David Moore said this is Rochester's 34th homicide.
