Group Issues Challenge to Buy Local Organic Food

You've probably heard the call to buy local at farmers markets and some food stores.

The amount of locally grown foods is on the rise and more businesses are using local produce and grains to make their products.

The Small World Bakery in Rochester produces breads and other goods that are sold at farm markets and the Abundance Cooperative.

The Northeast Organic Farming Association of New York is supporting small businesses like this and local farmers by issuing a Locavore challenge through the month of September.

"We're getting them to eat local and organic food try new foods in their diet so that's reaching out to farmers markets procuring your food from local businesses and restaurants across the state including the Small World Bakery which makes bread from local organic flour," says Lea Kone of NOFA New York.
