A new study ranked Rochester as one of the most dangerous cities in the nation.

The survey by government and politics publisher CQ Press ranked Rochester number 61 out of 400 most dangerous cities. Buffalo ranked 17th most dangerous while Syracuse came in at 74 and Albany at 84.

The most dangerous city was St. Louis, Missouri. The safest was Colonie, New York.

The rankings were based on per capita violent crime statistics from the FBI.
