The New York State budget is due April 1 and according to Republican Senator Joe Robach, it may pass on time this year. The budget for 2010 was not passed until August, which was four months late.

Robach told YNN Saturday that the budget is moving forward through the committee process.

"I'm pretty confident in this last week with the progress we've made,” said Senator Robach. "We'll be locked down going through that, I won't say I’m predicting, but I’m very hopeful we'll have a budget done on time, one that will serve New Yorkers probably more than they have in the last couple of years."

Governor Cuomo's proposed budget eliminates a $10 billion deficit and prevents a deficit next year.

The $132.9 billion budget does not call for raising taxes or borrowing, but it does call for reducing general fund state operations spending by 10 percent.
