Dozens of participants will engage in yoga positions to help raise money for the Bivona Child Advocacy Center; an agency that assists abused children.
The Bivona Child Advocacy Center provides a safe and welcoming environment for abused children. People that are part of "iRocYoga" want to help raise money for the not-for-profit agency.
iRocYoga is inviting everyone to join its Yoga Challenge June 18 at the Woodcliff Hotel & Spa. The morning will be comprised of 108 sun salutations; a common sequence of 12 yoga poses linked together.
Twelve area yoga teachers will be at the event to guide, teach, and inspire participants to raise money for the Bivona Child Advocacy Center.
"With iRocYoga, the concept is bringing Rochester's yoga community together, and I didn't want to just bring people together for the sake of bringing people together, it was ok, what can we do, what can we do to make a difference? And so this is one of those things. Getting out, doing yoga, something that we love doing, and having a fundraiser that is going to an agency that is so amazing," said Melinda McAuliff, the 108 Yoga Challenge Organizer.
"I think there's no greater gift than people from the community coming together on their own, their own idea, something creative, and doing something that is really impacting the lives of thousands and thousands of children, because that is what Melinda and iRocYoga and all of her instructors are doing on June 18th," said Mary Whittier of the Bivona Child Advocacy Center. "And we are so appreciative of that. And really all of those funds raised will go directly to Bivona Child Advocacy Center and help all of the kids we see day in and day out here who have been victimized by abuse."
The Yoga Challenge will be held Saturday, June 18 at Woodcliff Hotel from 9:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. Pre-registration is not required and all participation is donation based. All proceeds will benefit the Bivona Child Advocacy Center.
