Fire Pushes Out Family of Six
A family of six is without a home after a fire in Greece Saturday evening.
Firefighters say it started shortly before 5 p.m. on Lida Avenue. Crews say when they arrived on scene, the first floor of the home was engulfed in flames, and smoke was pouring through the second story windows.
Firefighters from three different departments were able to knock it down quickly. Everyone home at the time made it out safely without any injuries.
"The mother was asleep upstairs and the daughter discovered the fire and woke her up. They were both able to get out safely," said Chief John Norris, Barnard Fire Company.
The family is being assisted by the Red Cross. The cause is under investigation.
