School Bus Safety Audit
The Dansville School district is taking steps to make sure its buses are safe for children. This comes after an incident on Wednesday when a third grader was dragged nearly 900 feet after her back pack got caught in a bus door.

Eight-year-old Haley Heath escaped with scrapes and bruises after the incident near her home in the town of Ossian.

Superintendent Paul Alioto has ordered a transportation safety audit. Kathleen Furneaux of the Pupil Transportation Safety Institute is scheduled to meet with district officials all next week.

The purpose of the audit is to examine all transportation procedures and policies in the district. The results will be released in February.

The bus driver has been placed on administrative leave pending an investigation. State police say he will not be charged.
