New Twist to Ongoing Scam Reported
There is a new twist to an ongoing scam.
The Better Business Bureau is warning people about phony phone calls they may receive from someone claiming to be from the BBB organization. The phone calls are in addition to phony emails being sent to businesses.
The scam involves callers offering to help remove a virus from a victim's computer. The scammer claims the computer was infected when the owner downloaded a virus from an email scam using the bureau's name.
Since late November, business owners nationwide have received phishing emails appearing to be from a BBB.org email address.
Anyone with questions about the BBB scam is encouraged to call 800-828-5000.
