RGH Saves $185,000 in Waste Removal Costs
Thanks to a collaborative effort with the state, Rochester General Hospital says it saved $185,000.
The hospital worked with the New York State Pollution Prevention Institute at the Rochester Institute of Technology to conduct a study on medical waste removal.
The three year study showed regular waste was often mixed with regulated medical waste. The medical waste disposal process is much more expensive.
The study determined that by increasing employees' awareness, they were able to save money and have a positive impact on the environment.
