A Monroe County judge nominated by President Obama for a Federal court position was in Washington DC for a hearing on Wednesday.
Judge Frank Geraci Jr. appeared before the Senate Judiciary Committee. Geraci was nominated by the President to serve as the United States District Judge for the Western District of New York.
Geraci and four other judges were questioned by senators on their experience and how they would run a federal court.
"You have to be deliberate in your decisions. Be decisive, but then the most important thing that I think a judge does is explain the rationale for the decision. That approach I believe is what gives confidence to the public and that is what I would do as a federal district court judge if I am so confirmed,” Geraci said.
Geraci previously served as a Rochester City Court judge and as an attorney.
His nomination by the President would have to be confirmed by a Senate vote.
