Thirty-nine families were at Monroe Community College on Friday afternoon to meet the kids that will be spending part of their summer with them.
The Fresh Air Fund is a not-for-profit agency that provides free summer vacations to New York City children who come from low income communities.
"It allows the children an opportunity to leave the concrete playgrounds and come out and enjoy grass and family time and just things that we have that they don't," said Pam Vanmaaren.
Each summer, more than 4,000 children visit communities from Virginia to Maine and Canada.
