The football players and cheerleaders taking part in the annual Eddie Meath All-Star Football game took time out Thursday to meet the children that they're playing for - kids at Golisano Children's Hospital.

The annual Section V East versus West football game has been raising money for the hospital for the past 30 years.

The interaction with the children puts the game in perspective for the participants.

"It changes the focus of the kids. They realize now that they're playing a football game for kids who can't and a lot of these kids have never been in a pediatric ward, and see kids with cancer and they really warm up to them,' said Dick Cerone, chairman, Section V Football.

Through donations, ticket and t-shirt sales the game generates more than $5,000 each year for the hospital.
