The volunteer coordinator at Heritage Christian Services is running for 24-hours straight to raise money and awareness for Heritage and all it does to support people with developmental disabilities.

Kelly Nash, of Irondequoit, is on the treadmill at Pieters Family Life Center in Henrietta, and will be until Saturday morning.

Nash, who has run in 17 marathons, is inviting people to run alongside her and make a donation to support the upcoming Heritage Christian Legacy Mile and 5K next month. She has worked for Heritage for nearly two decades.

"Heritage started so small with just a group of parents who had kids with disabilities and they put everything on the line to start this agency, and I wanted to do something that would reflect that kind of effort that they have and they continue to have. The administration does everything that they can to make sure that they continue to be the best at offering this kind of support," said Nash.

The Heritage Christian Legacy Run is August 25 at Monroe Community College. The event is expected to raise $75,000. The money helps Heritage support more than 1,500 adults with disabilities.
