Firefighters say a grass fire along Interstate 490 today spread quickly because of the dry conditions.
Firefighters from Brighton, East Rochester, Perinton, and Penfield responded to the scene. Firefighters said when they arrived the fire had 'jumped' the overpass, sparking fires in several areas along 490 near the East Rochester exit.
"With the dryness we've had and the heat today, unknown how it started - the sun's reflection, but with dry conditions, it doesn't take long for the fire to spread,” said Chief Stephen MacAdam, Brighton Fire Department.
Firefighters remind us to be aware of the dry conditions in an effort to prevent accidental grass fires.
