A Wayne County court judge sentenced Richard Dallas to the maximum of 25 years to life for abusing a nine month old girl.
Dallas was found guilty of predatory sexual assault against a child, aggravated sexual abuse, and endangering the welfare of a child following his bench trial last month. Police say the nine month old girl was taken to the hospital by ambulance in November for trouble breathing. A report was made to Child Protective Services after doctors say she suffered severe internal injuries as the result of a sexual assault. Wayne County District Attorney Richard Healy says the victim is expected to fully recover. The child is currently in foster care. Healy says the mother of the child is facing abuse and neglect charges, which is expected to be resolved in family court.
