Thunderstorms Roll Through Area

Severe thunderstorms ripped through the Rochester area Tuesday afternoon, knocking down some tree limbs, which in turn took power lines down with them.
In Brighton you could see power lines arcing as heavy rains fell.
We're told more than 4,000 RG&E customers lost power; especially in the Hilton-Parma area on the west side of Monroe County.
With the heavy rain falling so quickly, there was some flash flooding in the area, with high water at a number of underpasses causing significant traffic delays.
The National Weather Service reports a number of high wind incidents in Wayne County, as well as trees down in the towns of Williamson, Savannah and Walworth.
Police were also busy dealing with minor accidents and stalled vehicles.
The heavy rains also plowed through Genesee County. Traffic was stopped in a number of
areas in the city of Batavia due to damage caused by the wind and rain.
Railroad bridge underpasses in a two spots quickly filled up, stranding drivers. A car was caught under the bridge on Cedar Street. Another car was trapped under the bridge on Route 63.
No word yet on any injuries.
