Webster Park held a unique run Friday evening. The Outrun the Sun 5K race is designed to keep its participants out of the sun's harsh rays.
The run was designed to educate people on skin cancer and melanoma research. The event features a melanoma hero recognition program, live music and informational booths.
"To have a success and make money so that we can put towards the research in year one is spectacular, yeah," said Tom Bell Jr., Outrun the Sun treasurer.
Event organizers plan on making the Outrun the Sun 5K run an annual race in Rochester.
