A man accused of burglarizing a church in Batavia and later of trying to escape from jail has been indicted by a Genesee County grand jury.
An 11-count indictment against John Cabrera Jr. was unsealed Wednesday.
Prosecutors say Cabrera burglarized Saint Paul's Lutheran Church in Batavia on July 21st, and made off with a safe containing credit cards, cash and checks.
The same indictment also charges him with felony criminal mischief three days later for briefly escaping from the Genesee County Jail. Cabrera smashed a window and stole a corrections officer's uniform. He was found hiding in the basement.
