The Center for Disability Rights held a training seminar Thursday for small businesses on the American with Disabilities Act compliance, or ADA.

The training addressed the programmatic and physical violations as well as discrimination against people with disabilities.

"This training session is a first for us. This summer, we started to be a lot more active in enforcement of the ADA. We have a partnership with the Olinsky Law Group. We are going to be initiating lawsuits for organizations and businesses that don't follow the ADA; but, we also want to be able to take the opportunity to teach people what they need to do to stay out of trouble. But more importantly, to provide the access that they want to provide, that they should provide that our people need," said Chris Hilderbrant, Center for Disability Rights.

The CDR told us businesses need to be held accountable for discrimination, but they also need to be taught what measures they can take to help prevent it and be in compliance of the the law.
