The Retired Greece School Bus Monitor verbally assaulted by junior high students in a video that sparked outrage around the world took part in the "Strike Out Bully" event at Frontier Field.
Karen Klein threw out the first pitch before the Red Wings and the Yankees took to the field.
The event honored Klein and Senator Joe Robach prior to the ball game for their efforts against bullying and featured Bob Holmes, a national motivational speaker against bullying.
"I want the kids who are being bullied, to not be bullied," said Karen Klein. "I want them to fight back, not physically so much. Don't let the people get you down. You know, just don't let them pound you into the ground. You need to stand up for yourself, that's what I'm hoping."
Information tables were set-up to provide teens and parents with support and access to help with bullying, mental health challenges and abuse.
The "Strike Out Bullying" event was sponsored by Citizens Against Teen Suicide and Bullying Abuse.
