The third-last report released before the presidential election in November shows less jobs added to the U.S. economy in August than in July.
According to the Labor Department, U.S. employers added 96 thousand jobs in August, down 67 thousand from the month prior.
The unemployment rate fell two-tenths of a point to 8.1 percent, but the Labor Department said that was because some people ended their job search.
