Neonatal Intensive Care Unit Receives Gift
A multi-million dollar gift will give naming rights and help fund the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit in the new Golisano Children's Hospital at the University of Rochester.
Georgia Gosnell has committed five million to name the NICU. She has also created two professorships within the U of R's School of Medicine and Dentistry in Quality and Safety and Palliative Care.
U of R officials say the money for the new NICU, will include 60 beds both in the new building and in the current NICU space on the third floor of Strong Hospital.
The money is one of the largest gifts to the Golisano's Children's Hospital $100 million campaign.
The new 145 million dollar building will be about 245-thousand square feet and is expected to open in 2015.
