Faculty members at Fairport High School came together at the end of the day Friday to remember a teacher who lost her life while riding her bike in Webster earlier this summer.
Heather Boyum, a science teacher at Fairport, was struck and killed in July while riding her bike down Route 250.
School faculty and staff held a memorial to remember their colleague and friend. Her colleagues describe her as a leader and a central figure in the school community.
"Heather was a take charge sort of person. She would come in, whether it was with her students, her fellow athletes or her teachers. She would assume leadership just because she was so dynamic and intelligent and strong and courageous and people would want to follow her," said Rich Ognibene, science teacher.
Ognibene said this was the first chance the faculty could come together as a whole to remember Boyum.
