More Details Emerge Surrounding Alleged Geneseo Hazing Incident
YNN is learning more details surrounding an alleged hazing incident involving the SUNY Geneseo women's volleyball team.
YNN obtained a statement from the alleged victim who ended up in the hospital following what Geneseo police say was an underage drinking party involving the team nearly two weeks ago.
In the court paperwork, the victim states that she went to the Court Street apartments, located off campus, with seven other freshman from the team for an initiation. During the party, the victim states she was handcuffed, blindfolded, and that shots were poured down her throat. The victim states that during the initiation she stumbled, hit her head on a table, chipped her tooth, and someone continued to pour shots down her throat.
The victim then states she was forced to continue drinking for several hours and eventually passed out on the front lawn. She states she remembers waking up in the hospital and the doctor telling her she had a blood alcohol content of .26.
Police charged 11 students with hazing and unlawfully dealing with a child. Eight of those students are members of the women's volleyball team.
Students found in violation of the SUNY Geneseo hazing and underage drinking policy face probation and possible suspension.
