Men Accused of Assaulting Rochester Police Officer Arraigned
Two men accused of assaulting an off-duty Rochester police officer last month pleaded not guilty in Monroe County Court this morning.
Jamal Dixon and Caleb Gladney are charged with 2nd Degree Assault and 2nd Degree Attempted Assault.
Police said they punched off-duty police officer Francisco Santiago after they crashed their car into the back of Santiago's. Police said Gladney was holding a beer bottle during the assault. Police said Santiago, a six-year veteran of the force then shot them. He said he was acting in self-defense.
Dixon and Gladney were treated for non-life threatening injuries. Court paperwork said Santiago suffered a corneal tear in his eye and facial cuts during the assault.
The suspects will return to court November 1st.
