Investigators are continuing to search for answers in a deadly overnight fire on Pierpont Street. Rochester Firefighters confirm one adult died in that fire, which broke out just after 2:00 a.m. Sunday.

Flames quickly ripped through the home Sunday morning as Firefighters needed about 45 minutes to control the blaze. The body was found on the second floor.

Four children ranging from age 11 to 16 also lived at the house, but were not home at the time of the fire. The Red Cross is assisting those children. Also, one Firefighter was taken to Strong Hospital with unknown injuries.

Rochester's Interim Fire Chief, Sam Mitrano, tells YNN that the blaze is being invested "like any other fatal fire that we deal with." City fire investigators and federal officials were also on-scene Sunday.

On Sunday afternoon, neighbors on Pierpont Street set up a small memorial of candles and flowers for the victim. Neighbors tell YNN the victim is a mother of seven, in her late 30's.

"You know, she made sure of her kids," said Denise Bostic, standing next to the burned-out home Sunday. "If she didn't eat, she made sure her kids ate. You know, she struggled to get them school clothes, and it was hard for her, because she was a single mom.

"And this had to happen?"

Investigators expect to release more information about the fire on Monday.
