The city of Rochester confirms that one of the fire departments deputy chiefs has been fired.
City spokesperson Gary Walker says Deputy Chief Scotty Williams was let go on Friday. Walker says he was hired into the role in June of 2007.
Walker would not give any details about Williams' firing, except to say that it was a personnel matter.
"I can say this, I can say that the particular issue with this individual has to do with him individually; it has nothing to do with the fire department," said Tom Richards, (D), Rochester mayor. "So it's not related to the operation of the fire department or something that occurred within that context, so it's unfortunate and it related to him as an individual."
There are now two open deputy chief positions in the city's fire department.
