Firefighters say it started on the first floor of 522 Genesee street around 3:30 and spread to the attic.

There is heavy fire damage to the attic and the rest of the house was damaged by smoke and water.

It was a split home, one side was vacant and the people that lived on the other side were not home at the time of the fire.

No injuries are reported and investigators are looking into the cause.
