The popular Nickelodeon cartoon Dora the Explorer is broadcast in 141 countries around the world. Now an exhibit based on the television show is here in Rochester.

The Dora and Diego-Let's Explore! exhibit at the National Museum of Play opens Saturday. Children can take a ride on the Pirate Piggies' Ship, walk through, jump and crawl in the Rainforest Maze, plant flowers in Isa's Garden and help take care of the animals in the Animal Rescue Center.

"It's one of the most popular children's television shows on Nickelodeon. The reason we brought it in is because it reflects a lot of our values about learning through play, having fun and also being active," said museum spokeswoman Susan Trien.

Trien said they've been working on bringing the exhibit here for a year.

"It also reflects the caring for animals and for each other and the environment- very powerful messages done in such a lovely way for young children."

Dora herself will make an appearance at the museum this weekend. Click here for information about other Dora and Diego events.

The exhibit runs through January.
