A 66-year-old Lockport woman collided with a dump truck after running a red light at the intersection of Sweden Walker Road and Route 104.

It took rescue teams 16 minutes to cut the woman out of the wreck. The victim was then flown to Strong Hospital with serious injuries. The driver of the dump truck was not injured.

"This particular corner gets a lot of accidents. We have had a lot of people trapped here," said Brockport Fire Chief Mike Henry. "As far as the Mercy Flight, it's usually based on criteria, how badly trapped they are or if it's just a door pop, or something. The paramedics wanted us to get the helicopter rolling based on what they saw."

Police say sun glare might have been a factor in the driver's ability to see the red light.
