The Urban League of Rochester is doing what it can to encourage people to register to vote. The organization hosted a registration drive Tuesday to get people in and signed up.

It is National Voter Registration Day, and the Urban League is trying to increase voter turnout, especially among city residents.

To register to vote, you need to be at least 18 years of age by the date of the election, be a U.S. citizen, and not be in prison or on parole for a felony conviction.

"The next four years can determine what happens to our future. We want the younger generation to get out, because if they do not vote their voice will not be heard," said Mubarak Hashir, Urban League of Rochester.

Voter registration forms are available at most government offices, post offices and libraries and at your county board of elections office.

October 12th is the last day to register by mail to be eligible to vote.
