Man Faces Two Robbery Charges
A Rochester man is facing charges in connection with two robberies; one involving an off-duty Irondequoit police officer.

21-year-old Gerald Smalls is charged with two counts of first degree robbery.

Police in Greece say an off duty Irondequoit police officer was walking his dog near Latta Road last month when Smalls allegedly threatened him with a pair of scissors and demanded property. After a brief struggle, police say Smalls fled with the officer's phone. The officer suffered cuts to his arms and shoulders.

A few weeks later, police say Smalls threatened a man walking on Lake Avenue with a knife and demanded property. The victim kicked Smalls and he ran away.

Police took him into custody a short time later.

Smalls is being held in the Monroe County Jail.
